When you are experiencing moderate to severe tooth pain, you may need an emergency dentist. At Boulder Canyon Dental we prioritize patients who are in pain, and we will see you as soon as possible. If your emergency occurs Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm, call us immediately. If this is an after hours emergency, leave a message or a text with details, and arrive at our office at 8:00 am the following work day. If the pain is too great or this is the weekend, then go to the emergency room or urgent care.

No Pain to Moderate Pain:

  • Crown off: It is normal if you have sensitivity with a recently “off” dental crown. When not in moderate to severe pain, keep the area clean and avoid eating on that side. Leave a message on our general answering machine and arrive at the office first thing the next business day. Please save your crown and bring it with you to your appointment in case it can be re-cemented.
  • Throbbing tooth and/or swelling: If pain is mild to moderate, take 800mg Ibuprofen up to 3x per day. Please call and leave a message with our answering machine and arrive at the office first thing the next working day (T-F).
  • Broken Tooth: If you are not in pain, please keep area clean. Please call (970) 514-0662 and leave a message.  We will call you back to schedule an appointment or leave a message and arrive at 8am the next open business day and we will work you in.
  • Mouth Sore: Rinse with warm salt water.  Avoid alcohol, carbonation, and spicy foods. Please call (970) 514-0662 and schedule an appointment to be seen.
  • Filling loose/broken: If you are not in pain, please keep area clean. Please call (970) 514-0662 and leave a message and we will call you back to schedule an appointment or leave a message and arrive at 8am the next open business day and we will work you in. If you have mild to moderate pain, you can get oil of clove from the grocery store or dental wax to cover tooth for immediate relief.
  • Recent Extraction pain: It is not uncommon for a recent extraction area to be sore and even have moderate pain. This can continue for 3-5 days. This is due to swelling after the extraction from the bodies natural healing process. Please take either 800mg Ibuprofen up to 3x per day or 500mg Tylenol 4x per day.
  • Aesthetic Emergency: If you have broken a front tooth, are a patient of record with Boulder Canyon Dental, and have a social event that you need to attend and we are closed, you may arrive at 8am on next business day or you can text us with your name and the area of concern. If a doctor and staff needs to come in after hours then there will be an emergency fee in addition to treatment fees.

Severe Pain:

Reminder: If you are in severe pain and Ibuprofen is not helping, please arrive to our office at 8am the next business day and leave a message or a text with details so we are prepared for your arrival. If the pain is too great or this is the weekend, then go to the emergency room or urgent care.
